[edit] Create new articles

First of all, everything and anything about Oh My Goddess is welcome on this wiki. If you have an idea for an article, just create it. This is a unique chance for Oh My Goddess fans to work together on a dynamic collection of articles without the limits of complicated publication processes.

Almost anything on-topic is ok. Recommendations for your favourite OMG fan-fiction. Reviews or summaries of the various animes and mangas. Comments on the character and story development or possible future developments. ...

Have an idea, but don't know what to write about it? You can add a requested page. But if you have further thoughts about it, creating a "stub" page (a page with just a few lines) might be better, because others will have a base article to improve. Creating other people's requested pages would be nice, too.

[edit] Improve articles

If you find an article where anything is missing or you have some comments, just add them (by clicking edit in the top navigation). Nobody will be angry because you "corrected their work", so fix any spelling or grammar error when you see one.

Questions about articles or talking about it can be done in the discussion page. Every article has one linked in the top navigation. Things that are not really well-placed in the corresponding article should go there.

[edit] This is Not Wikipedia

Some users may be familiar with editing Wikipedia, and I'd like to point out a few policy differences:

  • We encourage the posting of original content. If you have something to say that no one else has said, then definitely say it. You are not required to only quote existing material.
  • Speculation is encouraged, but please mark your speculation clearly so people don't assume that it's fact. If speculative comments are rendered invalid by the current manga, they will be updated or removed.
  • A neutral point of view is not required. The purpose of this site is to provide analysis as well as facts about the story. Analysis by its very nature entails opinion, so don't be shy about injecting analysis into your articles. Again, just make sure it's clearly marked.
  • Don't copy articles in from Wikipedia or other wikis, even if the content is released under the GNU FDL and you credit them. This Wiki is about providing original content above all else. Exceptions to this rule may be made for specific defunct websites, where the content would otherwise no longer be available.

There are some Wikipedia rules that still apply:

  • Don't post content from other works or websites without getting permission from the author first, unless it's clearly within the realm of fair use (you may quote and reference other works, but keep the quotes brief, link to the works themselves, and provide additional analysis).
  • Anything of your own content that you post here is released under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2. This means that, essentially, by posting content, you agree that it can be copied, modified, and redistributed. Some restrictions still apply, so please read the license for details.
  • This wiki is not an archive of the manga itself. Providing screenshots and some scans for analysis is great, but posting entire episodes or chapters is a no-no.

[edit] Watch recent changes

Like many wikis these days, the Oh My Goddess Wiki is currently targeted by search-engine spammers who try to gain a high rank by placing massive amounts of links in wiki articles. This is a problem for the wiki for a number of reasons.

The page recent changes shows any edits of the last few days. By clicking on diff you can see what exact changes where made (this is also a good way to keep up to date what is happening on the wiki). If you find that an edit is pure spam or vandalism, revert the change by finding the last version in the history of the article that was correct, and then save that version with a comment like "revert spam" or something like that.

Note that the captcha (that annoying little box that makes unregistered users enter words from an image) should help alleviate this problem, but it's good to keep an eye out anyway.
