[edit] Synopsis
Urd has passed her first-class exam and awaits Heaven's approval. It is granted and with that, the decision rests with Urd whether or not to accept. Stunning, she rejects it. To make a long monologue short, she prefers to be an "unsavory" person. She wants to be that agent that breaks the rules, lies, and protects only those they care about...not the whole world. All for her sisters. Though, for Peorth, truth be told, because Urd feels that way, she hoped she would join them. I guess the party K, Bell, and begrudgingly, Skuld threw for Urd will go to waste, but Skuld just can't keep her mouth shut. I'm also guessing Peorth will be regretting not rescinding Urd's provisional first-class powers.
[edit] Notes
- I specifically used the term "unsavory" for a reason. If you can remember back to just a few years after 9/11, the intelligence community took a pounding from Congress, the war in Iraq was starting to take a turn for the worse, etc. The notion that the American intel community could only deal with people whose record was as squeaky clean as a boy scout's was insane. They had to rely on more "unsavory" characters. This same concept can be applied here to OMG!. The Valkyrie can not and will not just rove around, ready to bash any demon they see, or be on constant standby, like the police, that you can just call up any time you think you need them, or even worse, like a standing Army you can send in on a whim. How many times have we seen them in the OMG! world? Once? Twice? How many times, you, the reader, thought to yourself, "Where are the Valkyrie to help the Goddesses and kick so-and-so's butt?!"? They are special forces in a literal sense of the words. You need to rely on more local, immediate, small scale assets. In this case, Urd.
[edit] Analysis
Aside from my previous note, this arc has really shown Urd as one who is quite conscience of the world around them, and not as self-centered and irrational as we once believed her to be.
