[edit] Synopsis

Once again, the temple was destroyed last episode and now is rebuilt. What would an insurance claims adjuster say? Peorth takes a look at her perfect reconstruction of temple and is satisfied enough to turn to her other duty. Hmmm. Apparently, Keiichi needs a swift kick in the rear to say "I love you" to Belldandy. Gee, didn't see that coming. So, Peorth tries to pull a reason out of this spineless, nerveless, coward, but to no avail. He is only saved from the Inquisition by it being time to go to work, but if he thinks he escaped Peorth, he's wrong. If you think she's persistent, Chihiro is worse. She has the same look in her eye as Peorth. Keiichi, after dwelling on those three little words and coming clean to the boss lady about the situation, is "suckered" into saying those words to Bell after she says them to K. But, he bails and races off to the license bureau, though they're closed on Sundays! Chihiro is none too thrilled and Peorth agrees...he's gonna get it when he comes back.

[edit] Notes

  • Watch for similarities Fujishima draws between Chihiro and Peorth. Very striking.

[edit] Analysis

At first glance, there really isn't anything pressing to analyze, subject wise. Now, arcs build on each other, duh. I know this, but my point is that there isn't much new out of this arc and it's only purpose is to prep the characters for the Gate arc (i.e. the subject of love). While some soul searching is performed on Keiichi, it's more of comic relief and the same old "lacking nerve" deal.

[edit] Redstar7's review

Once again, manga has the ability to capture the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, or as I like to say a thousand animated cells. There are just certain reactions that aren't shown in the anime, and are better described in one frame in the manga. While this entire arc isn't much for a story, it's one of the best drawn and Chihiro's parts are really good too.
