[edit] Synopsis

Hangovers aren't fun. Neither are concussions, which I guess goddesses can sort of get, because the chapter opens on Peorth complaining about her headache from falling off of the bell tower last chapter. While lamenting her over her pain, the phone rings. It's Heaven and she's been recalled. The ever emotional-conscience Peorth wonders how will the others react to this news. After the goodbyes, Peorth says "Adieu" and returns to Heaven. Or not. The Gate didn't open. She's still at K's. Hmm. Let's try that one again. This time she is beamed away...to K's bathtub. Time to make a call. Unless whoever called Peorth didn't make mention of a problem with the Gate, "she" (the Gate) has gone on strike from the time Peorth was called to the time she tried to return to heaven, which seemed to be a span of about 5 minutes. Well, looks like Peorth gets an extended vacation. If only the Time Network didn't need adjusting. Anyway, so I says to the guy, WAIT WHAT?!?!?! The Time Network?!?!?! Oh no! Wait, what's that? Um, time. Oh, in that case, Peorth get your butt up there! Well, if she can't get up to Heaven by normal means...what if we shot her out of a cannon? Great plan, but we'll keep it in reserve. For now, the most obvious approach is to run a forced open sequence. Though, there is an unintended consequence. It pretty much negates Gate's strike, and she lets them know about it. Uh oh.

[edit] Notes

  • By Keiichi's reaction and personal research, this is the first we've heard of the Time Network.

[edit] Analysis

There is one little interesting sentence that Peorth says. Apparently some people asked for her specifically and went through the Earth Assistance Hotline to reach her. First, we don't know who "they" are. Second, what was so pressing with the Time Network? Third, why Peorth and not Urd? Here are some random thoughts. Piece them together as you see fit. Bell and Peorth had worked on a virus problem before, as in, inter-agency cooperation. As far as we know, "they" never contacted Urd.

[edit] Redstar7's review

A little intrigue, a little science, a little WTF?!. You'll enjoy Peorth getting soaked, Urd in her best outfit ever (in my opinion at least), and the cute, little Gate. Awww.
