[edit] Synopsis
The capture cycle on Gate worked perfectly. By stopping her influx and retention of data, the goddesses were able to weaken her. Gate was losing data, power. The side effect was that Peorth wouldn't be able to return to Heaven to fix the problem. So, while the goddesses exemplified selflessness by helping each other, they were screwing everyone else! Keiichi, though, seeing the pain Gate was in, jumped into the capture field and rescued her (Warning: Do no attempt). Gate gains an understanding about what Belldandy was talking about last chapter (wishing for others happiness, respect, etc.). She wanted to know about K and Bell, because she was lonely. After K says some nice words to her (that stupid love potion from the last arc might still be in effect), she has a change of heart and offers him anything he wants. So, he asks for her to open the gate (herself). She obliges him by handing him the key, to her...
[edit] Notes
- We get the bottom line for Gate's strike. She was lonely and wanted to experience love (possibly even have a companion), because of what she heard about the love between a goddess and a human (K and Bell).
- I'm not sure of the significance of when Gate looks at K and there's two slightly different images of him.
[edit] Analysis
As I stated earlier in my review, rather matter of factually, the goddesses used a capture working on Gate, which depleted her of her power, which meant Gate would be offline even longer, which meant no one could return to or leave Heaven, which meant that Peorth couldn't return to fix the Time System so all of time didn't just stop...all so K and Bell didn't get a knockout kiss from Gate...right.
